Privacy statement

The relationship between therapist and client is a central value at ISP Groningen. Confidentiality plays a crucial role in this relationship and we treat personal data with care. This privacy statement tells you how your data are handled.

Your file

The law requires that psychotherapists create a file for each client. This file records the data that are necessary to provide good care. The law obliges us to keep the files for fifteen years. These files are kept in a safe place.

Your rights

As a client, you are entitled to view or request a copy of the information included in your file. If you find factual inaccuracies in the file, you can ask to improve or supplement this information. If you do not agree with the information included in the file, you can request to add your own view to the file. I only can reject your request if I believe that the interests and safety of others, for example your children, are being damaged.

Confidentiality

The sessions are confidential and no information is shared with anyone outside ISP Groningen. This means that I only speak about you with others with your explicit consent. The content of the sessions may anonymously be discussed with a supervisor or during intervision with colleagues, who abide by the same professional codes. No personal information will be revealed to a third party without your consent, unless you pose a danger to yourself or somebody else. In such a case, as a rule, we will contact you to discuss the situation.

Complaints

The founder of ISP Groningen, Corinna Ostafin-Hermann is a registered member of the NVRG (Member No. 14267 – Nederlandse Vereniging voor Relatie- en Gezinstherapie) and adhere to all professional and ethical guidelines set by the association. If you have a concern or complaint, please contact me first so we can address it together.
